What makes Mate Factor different from other Yerba Maté?

Yerba maté (Ilex paraguariensis) has been treasured in South America for centuries as a naturally energising herbal tea — delivering smooth, sustained energy from a unique combination of natural caffeine, theobromine, and theophylline, without the jitteriness or crash associated with coffee. But here’s what most people don’t know: the vast majority of yerba maté on the market is aged for at least a year before it reaches you — a process that depletes natural enzymes, vitamins, and bio-active compounds, and often involves smoke-drying that gives the tea a harsh, smoky flavour. Mate Factor does things differently. Their yerba maté is processed immediately upon harvest, carefully heat-dried (not smoke-dried) to protect its nutrients and natural flavour, sealed in airtight packaging, and rush exported to preserve every bit of its natural vitality. The result is a genuinely fresh, smooth, smoke-free cup of yerba maté that is richer in antioxidants, polyphenols, and bio-active compounds than conventionally processed maté — and more antioxidant-rich than green tea.

Ingredients

100% organic yerba mate leaf (Ilex paraguariensis). Nothing else.

How to brew

Tea pot or tea ball: Use 1 tbsp of maté leaves per 360ml (12 oz) of hot (not boiling) water. Steep for 3–5 minutes. Adjust to your preferred strength.

French press: Use ¼ cup of maté leaves per litre (1 quart) of hot water. Steep for 3–5 minutes, then press and pour.

Coffee maker: Use ¼ cup of maté leaves per litre of water and brew as normal.

Traditional gourd (bombilla): Fill a maté gourd two-thirds full with leaves. Insert a bombilla (filtered straw). Pour hot water (around 75–80°C) over the leaves and sip. Refill multiple times — the traditional South American way.

Iced maté: Brew extra strong using ½ cup of leaves per litre of water. Add honey and lemon or your favourite juice. Pour over ice.
