Frontier Natural Products Frankincense Tears are pure Boswellia carteri resin tears — one of the oldest and most revered aromatic resins in human history. Hand-harvested from wild frankincense trees in the Horn of Africa, these natural resin tears are used for burning as incense, aromatherapy, traditional medicine preparations, and perfumery. Non-irradiated, kosher. Repackaged by SuperfoodsNZ into a convenient 100g resealable pack.
Why
Frankincense is the aromatic resin harvested from trees of the Boswellia genus — ancient, gnarled trees that grow in the arid, rocky landscapes of the Horn of Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. Boswellia carteri is the most prized and widely used species, producing the classic frankincense resin that has been traded across the ancient world for over 5,000 years. The resin is harvested by making deliberate cuts in the bark — a process called tapping. The tree responds by exuding a milky-white, sticky oleo-gum-resin that seeps from the wound and solidifies on contact with air into the characteristic globular chunks known as “tears” — named for their teardrop shape and the way they appear to weep from the tree. These hardened resin tears have a complex, resinous, dry, balsamic, and slightly citrusy aroma — one of the most distinctive and beloved scents in the world, used in religious ceremonies, meditation, aromatherapy, and perfumery across virtually every ancient civilisation. The resin contains boswellic acids — compounds with well-researched anti-inflammatory properties — making frankincense one of the most studied traditional medicinal resins in modern science. SuperfoodsNZ repackages this premium Frontier product into convenient 100g resealable packs — the same pure, non-irradiated, kosher-certified resin in a more accessible size.

Suggested Use
As incense: Light an incense charcoal disc and allow it to become fully ashed over (approximately 5 minutes). Place 1–3 frankincense tears on the hot charcoal. The resin will melt and release its aromatic smoke. Use in a well-ventilated space. Never leave burning charcoal unattended.
For steam inhalation: Add a small piece of resin to a bowl of just-boiled water. Lean over the bowl with a towel over your head and inhale the steam for 5–10 minutes.
As an infused oil: Gently warm a carrier oil (such as jojoba or fractionated coconut oil) and add frankincense tears. Allow to infuse over low heat for several hours, then strain. Use topically as desired.
Other Ingredients
Frankincense resin tears (Boswellia carteri). Nothing else. Non-irradiated, kosher certified. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Frankincense tears will soften in heat and harden again when cooled — this does not affect quality.
