Starwest Botanicals Organic Burdock Root — cut and sifted Arctium lappa root, USDA certified organic and Kosher certified, a traditional detoxifying herb beloved in both herbal medicine and Asian cuisine for its earthy flavour and deep cleansing properties.
Why
Burdock root (Melissa officinalis) has been prized for centuries in both traditional herbal medicine and Asian cuisine — particularly in Japan, where it’s eaten as a popular vegetable known as gobo. In herbal medicine, burdock root is one of the most well-regarded herbs for supporting the body’s natural detoxification processes, particularly through the liver, kidneys, and lymphatic system. It’s rich in inulin (a prebiotic fibre), antioxidants, and bitter compounds that support liver function and healthy digestion. The flavour is earthy and slightly bitter with a subtle natural sweetness — making it a wonderful addition to herbal teas, broths, and culinary dishes. Starwest Botanicals sources their burdock root certified organic from China and processes it cut and sifted for easy brewing and cooking use.
